Electronic Espionage - Threat To Business
"One ought never to turn one's back on a threatened danger and try to run away from it. If you do that, you will double the danger. But if you meet it promptly and without flinching, you will reduce the danger by half"
Sir Winston Churchill (1874 - 1965)
How big a threat is industrial espionage?
Although there are many examples of bugging incidents in the newspapers no major study of the impact of bugging on organisations and individuals is available. With even the suggestion of a security leak causing commercial damage any bugging incident that is discovered is more likely to be kept quiet.
If the size of the bugging industry can be used as an indicator of the level of bugging activity worldwide it would suggest large numbers and that the rewards from bugging are substantial.
